Welcome to the website for the Poultry Club of Wales.

Back in the mid nineties, a group of poultry enthusiasts were chatting amongst themselves during the judging at Aberdare Poultry Show. The subject of the lack of any central coordinating body for the hobby in Wales became a discussion point and it was from this that we decided to contact the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (RWAS). After all, Scotland and England had highly successful societies and we thought that the RWAS could possibly help.

Our first approach to the Society was to enquire as to the possibility of staging a high profile Poultry Show during the Society's Winter Fair. Our approach was welcomed with great enthusiasm and so, with huge excitement, our first show as a group was staged in what was then the Members Pavilion in 1994.

This then led us to officially create The Poultry Club of Wales (PCOW), with its obligatory committee under the Chairmanship of Huw Thomas and Secretary Arwel Davies of Pontarddulais. The late Phil Jones of Blaengwynfi was appointed Treasurer and we were on our way.

We now run our own highly successful PCOW shows, the Welsh Federation Championship Show in October and the Spring Show at the Royal Welsh Spring Festival. Members are also heavily involved in the Winter Fair Poultry section, and our Federation involves most of the regular shows in Wales.

Things were not entirely easy in the early days, with disputes over the name of the club and the designature of our own shows, but with patience and perseverence we were able to overcome the barriers and we can now boast a thriving Poultry Club of Wales.

With this in mind, as part of our aim to promote poultry showing within Wales, we hope that this website will be of use to you.
